I embarked on my professional journey after obtaining a degree in Chemistry. My career path has been anything but ordinary, spanning across various professions. However, it is this diverse experience that sets me apart as a maths tutor and provides me with the ability to contextualise topics to aid understanding.

Before retraining as a maths teacher in 2011, I served in the emergency services, working with both the police and fire service. This background instilled in me a sense of discipline, resilience, and the ability to think quickly on my feet - qualities that are invaluable in the world of education. I’ve also worked as a research chemist and as a financial adviser amongst other jobs.

Since retraining, I have worked in various sectors including secondary schools, further education colleges, and private training centres. This broad experience has given me a deep understanding of the different learning environments and teaching methods used, enabling me to adapt a teaching approach to suit each student's unique needs.

In addition to my teaching experience, I work as an expert GCSE examiner for Edexcel. This role has given me an insider's perspective on exam techniques and marking schemes, which I use to guide my students towards exam success.

I’m also a long-standing school governor at a primary school with an outstanding OFSTED rating. This role along with my teaching experience has given me a comprehensive understanding of the education system, allowing me to provide well-rounded support to my students.
